Shree Gurdwara Ramgarhia Railway Gurmat School seeks to help the youth to learn, read and write Panjabi and you can also learn shabads (hymns) and tabla for both boys and girls.
In Gurmat School, we are put into classes by our age group and ability. During the year 2013, Gurmat School opened and enrolled over 100 students for free.
Learning is not the only thing we do in Gurmat School, we also enjoy ourselves and go for educational and fun trips .We also do many more enjoyable activities such as fun days and art competitions for both kids and adults where, they win gifts and let their imagination run wild and be creative. We children get delicious food for lunch and at tea-time. Also during functions we get pizzas, chips, pasta, ice-cream and soda.
Every end of month, Gurmat School holds programs for both kids to do speeches and shabads which many people come to see. Last year in 2014, Gurmat School and South 'C' Gurdwara Nagar Kirtan to celebrate 40 years of South 'C' Gurdwara and the opening of the new hall / Darbar.
Gurmat School has also organised a sports day as well as kirtan at Karura Forest and also Asa Di Vaar
Recently I had the privilege of being the goal keeper for the girls U-16 football team. We won medals for coming second, after drawing three matches in the finals with the same opposing team. The match was decided by a penalty shoot-out. We are thankful to the Gurdwara for sponsoring our teams. We also had a lot of fun helping to organize the food distribution for the famous movie show Chaar Sahibzade at Sarit Centre.
We have wonderful teachers who take their time to teach us Panjabi and
shabads and why we should be proud of being Sikhs. We feel so happy because of our new Gurmat School bus which was given to us by the Chana family and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
So lastly, I would just like to say that, if you join Gurmat School, you will really enjoy yourself and will also love it.
